Ogres are the only species in this webring that are actually decended from humans.
The first ogres came into this world when a Professor of Psychology from the Russian Utopia University in Moscow devised a special way that would split a human into two halves (in the same way as a schizophrenic has a split personality) so that good feelings and thoughts would be seperate to the bad ones. Everyone in the university thought this would be a great breakthrough in medical science, and work began on the techniques that they would use to perform this feat. |
But, everything did not go as smoothly as everybody hoped...
Work continued on a blistering pace as the scientists made more and more new discoveries, and the tests to cure animal subjects had been passed with flying colours as rabid animals had become calm instantly, and had become most docile. Soon, after many more tests on animals, everything was ready for the first few tests on human patients. The first "guinea-pig" had been led up the steps to the mass of machinery, pipes, dials and lights that made up what was now known as the "Personality Splitter" by the laboratory staff. |
Because of the complexity of the human mind, the machine could not neutralise the test subject's crippling mental problems.
The test subject (designated code-name Cherabim-001) was put into the bowels of the machine, but as soon as the scientists started the curing process, a great screaming noise came from inside it, and huge dents started appearing in the metal shell. The doctors stopped the test instantly, and opened the hood, but the damage had been done. Instead of one human coming out of the machine, two...things came out. |
The birth of the "Seraphim Ogres" was regarded as one of the major setbacks in the testing of the Personality Splitter.
What came out of the machine were termed by some imaginative lab-assistant as "Seraphim Ogres". The first to come out was a beautiful creature. It was a pure white humanoid, blazing with inhuman light. It did not speak, but it radiated calmness to the whole room. The second creature was much more terrible. It was, again, humanoid, but this one was pitch black. It's eyes blazed red and all that it could do was scream. It was a mad scream, cold and full of hate. The two halves of the human psyche had been made into two different beings.
